GuideThe first 72 hours
- Water first. Fill every container you have while taps still work. Boil for one minute, or use 2 drops of unscented bleach per liter and wait 30 minutes.
- Stay put unless you are unsafe. Agree on a meeting point with family that does not depend on phones.
- Print what matters. Medicine doses, maps, contacts. Screens fail; paper does not.
- Keep a radio. A hand-crank or battery AM/FM radio is the most reliable source of news.
- Help neighbors. Groups survive what individuals cannot.
